My name is Tammy, a name I disliked until I truly understood it’s significance. My name means date palm tree and the characteristics of the date palm are: to be able to bend without breaking and to be able to weather storms, to be able to provide shade and refreshing, and to be able to thrive in desert conditions. While these are all wonderful characteristics, the full impact of my name came when I learned that the genus, or scientific classification for the date palm tree is Phoenix – the being who is able to rise from the ashes!
My wellness journey began with the introduction of essential oils into my life in 2011. I was coming from a place of emotional brokenness and physical exhaustion, having never learned to truly care for myself while I was busy caring for my husband, two daughters, and serving in my church and homeschooling community. Tired momma, can you relate?
Although I saw a profound shift in my health, I resisted joining Young Living with a membership. From May of 2011, to November of 2012, I simply enjoyed ordering the products from friends. It’s a mistake I truly regret! Only after the oils had a profound effect on me did I decide to truly learn how to care for my body and emotions properly. I researched nutrition, supplements, exercise, oils, sleep, and the power of a healthy thought life, and my eyes opened to the possibility that I could feel strong and well, no matter my age!
The Phoenix built its nest from sticks of cinnamon, frankincense and myrrh. It was transformed out of the ashes of it’s father. When it emerged from the fire, it was renewed, and smelled of those spices, aka essential oils!! How fantastic is that?
Phoenix (The Metamorphoses, Book 15, 391-417): “… there is one, a bird, which renews itself, and reproduces from itself. The Assyrians call it the phoenix. It does not live on seeds and herbs, but on drops of incense, and the sap of the cardamom plant. When it has lived for five centuries, it then builds a nest for itself in the topmost branches of a swaying palm tree, using only its beak and talons. As soon as it has lined it with cassia bark, and smooth spikes of nard, cinnamon fragments and yellow myrrh, it settles on top, and ends its life among the perfumes.”
Cardamom is in Clarity, an oil blend from Young Living. It’s “my” oil, aka THE blend that started it all for me (with Young Living and my transformation back to health). With Clarity, I woke up! I started looking at labels, checking the side effects of chemicals, and ridding my home and my body of things that were not helping me live life to the fullest!
In recent years that I have begun to fully understand my purpose, which is to bring hope to other tired mommas, to provide refreshing and to walk with those on their own journey into simple and natural living. I’m honored to share this life with my team, and I welcome you to join our community.
